LaLiga: Mallorca destroys Real Madrid title hope

Real Madrid’s hope of retaining La Liga was dented on Sunday afternoon as the champions fell 1-0 to Real Mallorca.

The result means Real Madrid are five points behind leaders Barcelona on the La Liga table.

Barcelona will host Sevilla later on and can open up an eight-point lead after a frustrated Real Madrid fell against Mallorca, with Marco Asensio missing a penalty against Javier Aguirre’s side.

Nacho’s first-half own-goal separated the teams in a hard-fought clash, frequently slowed by numerous fouls from Mallorca.

Amid a constant battle between winger Vinicius Junior and Mallorca’s players and supporters, Javier Aguirre’s side held off Real Madrid to record an impressive victory.
